The majority of us with autoimmune diseases have no choice than to be supplementing, so I decided to write an article about what are vitamins about. Since I have autoimmune diseases and my body does not absorb the nutrients from my food I need to supplement, but lately, I have been concerned are these really healthy for me? Let’s see what we can find out about these products our physicians are prescribing to almost everyone today, and the first thing that concerns me is what is in these products.

What Are In My Vitamins

One reason I am concerned is that vitamins and supplements are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration, but this is not a big problem for me since I don’t really have much respect for this organization. The reason I lack any confidence in this organization is to look at all the chemicals in our food and products today, and the medical professionals are now admitting these artificial ingredients could be contributing to our autoimmune diseases and cancer.

What Consumer Labs Has To Say

Consumer Labs recently shared their test results on calcium and vitamin D supplements, you can read the entire article this information came from on the Doctor Oz website. Some of the popular products contained 70 to 80% more vitamin D, and too much of anything can cause more problems than do us good. They also found one calcium product contaminated with lead,  and even though the amount was low, we all know lead is not healthy to be putting into our bodies.

The Vitamin Home Test

I learned while writing this article we can actually do a home test to check our vitamins, and this is something I am going to try at home myself to be sure I am putting safe products into my body.

Add your pill into a cup of water approximately 99 degrees,  and this will imitate your own body temperature for the most accurate results.

Stir approximately 30 minutes being sure the water remains warm, and you should start to see the pill beginning to break apart.  Within the end of 30 minutes, the pill should be completely dissolved or in a powder form,  but this will not work for chewable or coated vitamins.

So this is the actual process Consumer Labs uses to do tests on vitamins and supplements, so if you are concerned if you are putting the best products into your body this can ease your concerns.

Since I Started Purchasing Grass-Fed Meat My Digestive System Is Functioning More Effectively

Grass-Fed Meat & Autoimmune Disease

I have switched to grass-fed meat the past several years to experience a healthier digestive system, and I also have not experienced any acid reflux since making this change in my diet. Many people don’t realize what the animals eat will affect people as well, and so animals fed a high-grain diet often cause people with autoimmune diseases health problems. This is even more so for anyone with Celiac Disease, so even though it does cost more in the long run, it is worth it to have more energy and feel healthier.

  1. Thanks for sharing a lot of information with me today. I learned about how to do easy home test on vitamins and I’m surprised to know that even what feed on animals will affect our health as well. Thanks for your information.

    1. Hello, Gary
I am happy you learned from this article, and that is why I am writing
these articles to help people learn

      Jeff

  2. You say the article doesn’t give a complete food list, but, the truth is, you gave us a very good list! I can agree with your dislike and disrespect of FDA, as I’ve seen some very good products which they failed to evaluate, and, on the other side, some they did, but I’d never call them good.
I’m sure your experience on grass-fed meat will be a valuable help to many. Too bed I do not live in the USA.

  3. I loved your article!!!
I am from Argentina and here most of the meat is grass-fed.
I travel a lot and I can say that meat from Europe or the united states that is produced intensively and is grain-fed can be very different.
I hope that the way we produce our food will soon change in the world to give way to more sustainable and healthy ways for the human being

    1. Hello, Isabella

I thank you for reading and commenting, you are very lucky to be receiving
grass-fed meat in Argentina and the people are more likely healthier

      Jeff

  4. Really interesting article. I don’t know much about autoimmune disease, although I have a friend that suffers with it. I try to get as many of the vitamins as I can from food, but I do take Vitamin B Complex as that’s one of the most difficult ones to get from food alone.
It’s funny but I’d never really considered what a vitamin actually was before reading this. And the vitamin test is a really helpful idea that I’m going to try myself.
    Thank you

    1. Hello, Debbie

I am happy you found the vitamin test interesting, I thought this was a great
way for people to test their vitamins.

  6. Hi Jeff,

A thoroughly insightful and informative article.

I recall feeling extremely under the weather a few years ago and eventually had to visit my GP.

It turned out I had a severe vitamin D deficiency and was prescribed some extremely powerful pills.

I’m still take vitamin supplements to this day, but I’d never really considered the types of food that I should be eating to ensure that I was “supplementing naturally”.

There’s definitely a few foods on your lists that I don’t eat and probably should.

    Great article as always.
    Partha

    1. Hello, Partha

I am happy the food list was helpful to you, and by adding
some of the foods you are not eating can increase your vitamin
      levels you might be lacking

      Jeff

  7. I found the vitamin dissolution part of your article very interesting . There’s a lot of good information on here about what foods to eat to get the most nutrients in your body. Thanks for the information!
