There are more homeless people in the world today than ever, so this article is to provide rent assistance programs to help people who can’t pay their rent. There are people of all ages all over the world who are living on the streets, you can find this in every country even in the United States. Everyone has different situations why they are living on the streets, so this article is going to focus on people, and how they can get help if they need to. There are over 193,000 American’s alone without a place to call home, and over thousands die every year and maybe even more.

Homeless People In The USA

What is homeless people are people just like you and me, and there are even families who are living without a place to call a home. No one plans or thinks they might be the next person in this situation, but lately with the COVID-19 virus this has been a reality for many families. We just never know what tomorrow might bring, and how many of us actually are preparing for something like this to happen? So next let’s look at some reasons this could happen to even you, and never think that your life can’t turn into a nightmare overnight.

  • Unexpected Physical Health Issues
  • Mental Health Issues
  • Employment Injuries
  • Health Expenses
  • Loss of Employment
  • Unable to find Work
  • Addictions
  • Traumatic Experiences

These are some of the most common situations that people face that puts them on the streets, and with autoimmune diseases increasing dramatically many of us are not able to work to earn a living. The worse part is many of you will have to fight the government for possibly years to receive disability benefits, and even worse many of you will be denied and never receive what you paid into. Many people are not eligible for unemployment benefits as well, you see you have to be able to do some type of work to receive unemployment benefits according to the government. So for those who are not able to receive assistance from these two government programs, what other choice do they have then to start living on the street.

Open Your Heart & Donate Even A Few Dollars To Help The Homeless

COVID-19 High-Risk People

People who can’t afford to pay their rent often seek shelter which puts them at high-risk for health problems, so many of these people and families will find help at homeless shelters. Since there are a large number of people confined to these small areas they are high-risk for spreading diseases, and to make matters even worse the majority in these shelters are elderly. So they are more vulnerable than the majority of our society in the United States, and if you are able to donate even a few dollars to these shelters now and then it can mean life or death to those who depend on these shelters. I created Autoimmune Disease Community to be able to provide information and support to help as many people as possible, and with all that people are dealing with today anxiety and depression is more common than ever.

Assisting Support For The Homeless

One organization that supports support is the Volunteers of America with a passion, so if you have it in your heart to donate to help these poor misfortunate people and families this is a good organization to consider. So to give you a better reason why this is a good choice I have shared more information about this organization for you.

Affordable Housing With An Income

I have provided you two good organizations for the homeless above, but what about people with an income that still need assistance? Many individuals and families today are living on a low-income, and many of the elderly are living on a fixed-income, so what type of help is available if you fit in this situation?

  • Low-Income
  • Fixed-Income
  • Disabled

There are way more people and families struggling to pay their living expenses today than you might realize, and these three situations above are very good examples.

HUD Housing Programs

HUD is a good place for people and families to start their search for low-income housing assistance, you will find HUD provides you with two types of programs to choose from. So most people and families living on a low-income usually is eligible for at least one of these types, and below are the types the are available. Privately owned and Subsidized housing programs, and below are some examples of housing.

  • Apartments
  • Duplexes
  • Townhouses
  • Single Family Housing

What About Section 8 Housing

Section 8 pays approximately 2/3rds  of my rent, and I am paying the remainder 1/3 to my landlord. I have been using this program for over 6 years, but with the economy and my medical expenses from my autoimmune diseases I am applying now for HUD housing instead. So these are options you have to consider if you do have some type of income coming in, and below are the types of housing you can rent through this housing program.

  • Private Residence
  • Apartments
  • Condominiums
  • Townhouses
  • House Trailers
  • Duplexes
  • Single-Family Homes

With HUD your income must be below 80% of the average income for your local area, and Section 8 your income must be below 50% of your local area. You can be eligible for both of these programs, but you can only be on one or the other. I am presently on Section 8 renting through a private residence with my utilities to pay out of my pocket, so I am applying for HUD for residence in a senior community where my utilities will be included in my rent. This will hopefully provide me more income for the other things I need, and also I am at the point in my life that my health limits me to be able to take care of an entire house and a yard as I am doing now.
